About Responsible Outside Interests
The Office for Responsible Outside Interests aligns outside interest and activities with the university's commitment to transparency, integrity, and public trust.
OROI is responsible for ensuring conflicts of interest and commitment are mitigated and objectivity is maintained in all research, allowing our faculty to focus on disseminating knowledge through teaching, research, and public service.
Appropriate relationships with private industry and the nonprofit sector further are critical to our mission.
However, these external activities have the potential for conflict when the activities, income, or other interests affect, or appear to affect, activities pursued or decisions made within the University.
