UArizona is eligible to submit toward the September 27, 2022, deadline but not to the May 17, 2022, deadline.
An internal competition for the September 27, 2022, deadline will be available on UA Competition Space in summer, 2022.
UArizona may submit four Letters of Intent.
Ticket #1: T. Eifler
The DOE SC program in High Energy Physics (HEP) hereby announces its interest in new applications for support of Artificial Intelligence Research for High Energy Physics. This FOA refers to research into and development of computational systems that take action to achieve a goal as Artificial Intelligence (AI) research and may include Machine Learning (ML) techniques as appropriate. This Announcement invites applications for AI research in three topic areas: AI research for HEP, HEP for AI research, and development of an HEP AI Ecosystem. The HEP program explicitly encourages applications from non-traditional HEP institutions and researchers that may broaden the participation in HEP research and the AI sub-field.

The purpose of the TPEC program is to establish resource hubs that support the placement of early childhood development (ECD) experts into pediatric practices that serve a high percentage of prenatal-to-five-year-old (P–5) populations who are eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or are uninsured.
UArizona may submit one proposal.
The Foundation’s Creating Equitable Pathways to STEM Graduate Education grants will support institutional pathways from MSIs to master’s and doctoral degree programs in astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, data science, Earth sciences, economics, engineering, marine science, mathematics, physics, and statistics. The intent is to facilitate the creation and strengthening of diverse, inclusive, and equitable pathways to and through STEM graduate education with the recognition that student pathways are too often disrupted by systemic racism, discrimination, and bias through prevailing institutional and departmental policy and practice.

UArizona is limited to three concept papers total.
Submission will be coordinated with the UA Foundation.
Note: UAF and RDS will work with the selected applicants to provide the "letter from leadership" that is required by the Mellon Foundation for the April 20th registration step. A leadership letter is not required as part of this expedited internal UArizona competition.
In the interest of maintaining a grantmaking portfolio that supports inquiry into issues of vital social, cultural, and historical import, the Higher Learning program at the Mellon Foundation invites ideas for research and/or curricular projects focused on any of the three areas outlined below:
Please see the Mellon Foundation website for full concept paper guidelines.
Hee-Dae Kim
UArizona may submit four Concept Papers in medical sciences and four Concept papers in physical sciences and engineering.
The W.M. Keck Foundation Research Program uses a three-step process for this opportunity. The first step is a Concept paper. The Undergraduate Education program is currently not accepting concept papers. The next steps are by the foundation’s invitation. UArizona review criteria reflect previous interactions with the W.M. Keck Foundation. Proposals should focus on basic, fundamental science with broad applications.
The proposed work should show a significant leap forward rather than an extension of existing work.
To be considered by Keck, applicants must have a statement from a federal program officer expressing that the project is not a good fit due to risk (rather than technical or theoretical fit) or a decline from a federal program where the summary statement or individual reviews highlight the incredible novelty, but the high-risk nature that makes it difficult to fund at the federal level.
T. Meixner
UArizona may submit one pre-application as the lead institution.
RDS is offering two Department of Energy Urban Integrated Field Labs (IFL) UArizona Collaboration Webinars:
March 31, 3p to 4p
April 1, 12p to 1p
This opportunity is Institutionally Coordinated through this internal competition selection due to the short deadline and relevance to multiple areas on campus.
Limited Submissions language from the solicitation: Applicant institutions are limited to no more than one letter of intent, pre-application, or application as lead institution.
The Urban IFLs will necessarily involve diverse scientific disciplines to develop comprehensive projects including field observations, data assimilation, modeling, and model data fusion, to inform equitable solutions based on state-of-the-art uncertainty quantification and data analytics. Applications must be multi-institutional and focus on the development of a single IFL. Interested faculty are encouraged to partner with colleagues at ASU and NAU.
J. Rainbow (College of Nursing) // Limit: 3* // Tickets Available: 2
UArizona may submit one nomination for the College of Nursing, one for College of Medicine-Tucson, and one for College of Medicine-Phoenix.
The Macy Faculty Scholars Program, now in its second decade, aims to identify and nurture promising early career educators in medicine and nursing. The Program will help develop the next generation of national leaders in medical and nursing education by identifying outstanding educators, physicians, nurses, and role models—individuals who represent the breadth of diversity seen in learners, patient populations, and health care settings around the country. By providing the Scholars with resources—especially protected time, mentorship, and a professional network of colleagues—the Program aims to accelerate Scholars’ careers, to turn their teaching practice into scholarship, and to help them become impactful leaders locally, nationally, and beyond.
