The goal of the Bridges to the Baccalaureate Research Training Program is to provide structured activities to prepare a diverse cohort of community college students to transfer to and complete a bachelor's degree in biomedical research fields.  This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) provides support to eligible, domestic institutions to develop and implement effective, evidence-based approaches to biomedical training and mentoring that will keep pace with the rapid evolution of the research enterprise. NIGMS expects that the proposed research training programs will incorporate didactic, research, mentoring, and career development elements to prepare trainees to bridge from the community college and complete the bachelor's degree in biomedical fields.

This program requires partnerships between two-year post-secondary educational institutions granting the associate degree with four-year colleges or universities that offer the baccalaureate degree.

This FOA does not allow appointed trainees to lead an independent clinical trial but does allow them to obtain research experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor.

Applicants must hold a faculty appointment (or other long-term research position outside a university) that allows at least 50 percent of their effort to perform research (often this is a faculty position with at least a 60 percent appointment in a tenure-track position or its equivalent).

The Greenwall Faculty Scholars Program in Bioethics is a career development award to enable junior faculty members to carry out innovative bioethics research. It supports research that goes beyond current work in bioethics to help resolve pressing ethical issues in clinical, biomedical, and public health decision-making, policy, and practice, and creates a community that enhances future bioethics research by Scholars and Alumni/ae.

Scholars and Alumni/ae attend twice-yearly meetings, where they present their works in progress, receive feedback and mentoring from the Faculty Scholars Program Committee and other Scholars and Alumni/ae, and have the opportunity to develop collaborations with other researchers. The ongoing involvement of Alumni/ae with the Program provides them ongoing opportunities for professional development and feedback and engages them in mentoring of younger Scholars.

The Joint Hypersonic Transition Office (JHTO), in partnership with Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) and the UCAH, is soliciting competitive WPs/PPPs supporting hypersonic research and technology, per the defined Statement of Need (SON) in Section 2.1. JHTO reserves the right to fund none, some, or all of the submissions made in response to this RWP/RPP. Furthermore, JHTO may choose to fund a portion of a submission or a combination of submissions. Not all meritorious submissions will necessarily receive funding. TEES and JHTO will exercise their discretion in selecting submissions. TEES and the JHTO will provide no funding for direct reimbursement of WP/PPP development costs.

Estimated Project Ceiling:
Up to a three-year period of performance at $1,500,000 per year per Project Sub-Agreement (PSA). The JHTO reserves the right to approve projects that slightly exceed this level based on the technical strengths of the proposal and the reasonableness of the costs.

7/13/21 UPDATE: The Joint Hypersonics Transition Office (JHTO) has determined in a second amendment to TEES/JHTO-RPP-2021-001 that in addition to the two white papers, universities may also submit one additional white paper to Topic 1 (Material Characterization of Metamaterials). This means that UA may submit two white papers to Topic 1 and one to another topic. If no UA white papers are for Topic 1 then we can submit a total of two.

Through strategic outreach, innovative programming, and productive alliances, the U.S. Mission to South Africa’s American Spaces program engages youth, organizations, and key influencers on thematic topics that are interesting and relevant, and that support the audience’s ability to think critically, promote U.S. and South African linkages, and take action to advance health, security, governance, and prosperity in South Africa. The selected partner organization must be able to collaborate with stakeholders and coordinate activities that are already defined (and which will be discussed in detail with the selected applicant), as well as add value through the inclusion of additional concepts, audiences, and participants. Administrative and financial management capabilities will be critical components of a successful proposal.
