Every laser, whether constructed, purchased, or otherwise obtained from outside the University of Arizona, or transferred from one Approval Holder to another, must be registered with Research Laboratory & Safety Services (RLSS). RLSS will ensure that the laser is registered with the Bureau of Radiation Control (BRC).
The Approval Holder should notify RLSS of their intent to procure a laser or shall notify the RLSS after receiving a laser and prior to operation. This notification can be via e-mail (rlss-rad-support@email.arizona.edu) or phone (520-626-6850). The laser will be assigned a registration number (LXXXXX) and the initial hazard evaluation process started.
RLSS will attach a tracking number label and a statement regarding changes in status of the laser.
