Technology Area Descriptions:

  1. Rotating Detonation Engine Advancement
  2. Durable Seals for Extreme Environments
  3. Seeing Through High-Speed Turbulence for EO Seekers
  4. Directed Energy - Non-kinetic methods for integrated air and missile defense (IAMD)
  5. UCAH 2024 Grand Challenge - jet interaction in hypersonic flight

Candidate must be a University Consortium Member prior to submitting a Notice of Intent (NOI) and all personnel supporting the proposal must be approved prior to award. As a general matter, all participants must be United States citizens. Participation of foreign member universities and individuals may be permitted on a case-by-case basis. Following the issuance of an award, a post-award orientation, or kick-off meeting, will occur. Each year, JHTO will hold an Annual Technology Review.

Each PSA, topic notwithstanding, shall submit the following:

  1. Quarterly updates.
  2. Annual reports for year 1 and year 2 of performance.
    1. A final report covering all three years at project completion.
    2. A Technical Data Package (TDP) to include, but not be limited to, the following items:
      1. All raw and filtered test data.
      2. Algorithms, simulations, and models, including description documents and code for Government use.

University Consortium for Applied Hypersonics: Challenge Projects

UA may submit 1 White Paper for a Challenge Project. A maximum of 7 Principal Investigators is allowed per proposal.

The Joint Hypersonic Transition Office (JHTO), in partnership with Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) and the UCAH, is soliciting competitive WPs/PPPs supporting hypersonic research and technology, per the defined Statement of Need (SON) in Section 2.1. JHTO reserves the right to fund none, some, or all of the submissions made in response to this RWP/RPP. Furthermore, JHTO may choose to fund a portion of a submission or a combination of submissions. Not all meritorious submissions will necessarily receive funding. TEES and JHTO will exercise their discretion in selecting submissions. TEES and the JHTO will provide no funding for direct reimbursement of WP/PPP development costs.

Estimated Project Ceiling:
Up to a three-year period of performance at $1,500,000 per year per Project Sub-Agreement (PSA). The JHTO reserves the right to approve projects that slightly exceed this level based on the technical strengths of the proposal and the reasonableness of the costs.

University Consortium for Applied Hypersonics: Core Projects

A maximum of 7 Principal Investigators is allowed per proposal.

7/19/21 UPDATE: Internal deadline is extended until July 20th at 11:59p.

7/13/21 UPDATE: The Joint Hypersonics Transition Office (JHTO) has determined in a second amendment to TEES/JHTO-RPP-2021-001 that in addition to the two white papers, universities may also submit one additional white paper to Topic 1 (Material Characterization of Metamaterials). This means that UA may submit two white papers to Topic 1 and one to another topic. If no UA white papers are for Topic 1 then we can submit a total of two.
