RDS Brown Bag Series

Schedule for the 2023-2024 Academic Year

This series is all about the services and products from Research Development Services. Join Kim Patten, AVP for Research Development, as she guides UArizona faculty through the resources available for them as they either start their careers at the University of Arizona or are seeking to expand their research in new and novel directions. Generally the series takes place via Zoom on the third Thursday or Friday of the month at noon. Grab your lunch (your brownbag) and join for an informational, yet informal, conversation around the services provided. You may even pick up a tip or two.

While this series is free to UArizona faculty, please register in advance for each session.

  1. Friday, September 15, 2023 - Introduction to the Research Development Grants: internal grants to support your research (note that there's a deadline for many of these September 27, 2023, so you'll want to check out the opportunities in advance)
  2. Friday, October 20, 2023 - Finding Funding Opportunities: an overview of the multiple resources available for free for faculty (we are primarily focusing on federal funding but we'll touch on some of the other resources, like Foundation Directory Online)
  3. Thursday, November 16, 2023 - Limited Submissions: what are they? why should you care? and what's the UArizona process?
  4. Friday, January 19, 2024 -  Proposal Development Support: when you're ready to write, we are there for you
  5. Thursday, February 15, 2024 - Honors, Awards & Nominations: there's more than just grants out there, learn how we support you in obtaining honors, awards, and nominations (particularly to Federal Advisory Committees)
  6. Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 1pm - External Engagement: when you're ready to partner with industry, community, and our national security colleagues, this is the session you'll want to attend
  7. Friday, April 19 - Workshops & Events: hosting a research workshop either on campus, at the DC Center, or elsewhere? Pick up tips, tricks, and best practices for a successful event
