Taren Ellis Langford leads the implementation and administration of university policies and programs related to research security, export control, conflicts of interest and responsible outside activities. She oversees processes that support compliance with federal regulations and university requirements while promoting transparency, integrity and public trust in research.

Prior to joining the University of Arizona, Langford served as chief counsel in the Arizona Attorney General’s Consumer Litigation Unit, where she represented the State of Arizona in consumer fraud and privacy matters. She also reviewed and drafted legislation and collaborated with federal agencies. Earlier in her career, she served as a prosecutor and appellate attorney in the Criminal Division of the Pima County Attorney’s Office.

Langford earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, where she served as symposium editor for the Arizona Law Review. She is a member of the Arizona State Bar, the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
