Reeve Foundation COVID-19 Grants

The aim of the Reeve Foundation’s new Quality of Life (QOL) grants program is to address social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic with the goal of enhancing connectedness of people living with paralysis and their caregivers to their communities and preventing adverse health outcomes.

Though we are looking to the field for innovative ways to address the program’s aim and goals, funds may support programs and projects to:

  • Connect isolated individuals and remotely foster engagement and connection through
    • Virtual support groups
    • Online activities to help support self-care and stress management
    • Virtual and online adaptive physical activity and health promotion programs
    • Art sessions
    • Gaming
  • Adapt services or create new services to continue to support and engage family caregivers
  • Facilitate connection through the use of technology, including
    • Increasing access to internet, broadband service, and tablets (via loan closets)
  • Provide programs with online opportunities for volunteering (Volunteering has been shown to have many positive health benefits)
  • Create strategies to strengthen and/or build social networks
  • Provide access to tools and resources to help people remain connected and engaged

It is expected that between six to ten grants will be awarded within the range of $25,000-$50,000.

Systems for Action: Supplemental Research on COVID-19 Response and Recovery - Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

This call for proposals (CFP) will provide supplemental research funding to teams that are already engaged in the study of a promising system alignment mechanism, with the objective of learning how this mechanism performs in addressing health and social needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The need to identify successful system alignment strategies has become increasingly urgent in the wake of the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic that causes COVID-19. This pandemic places people with unmet health and social needs at heightened risk of infection and complications, while propagating unmet needs through job losses, school and business closures, occupational risks, and social distancing policies. This call for proposals (CFP) will provide supplemental research funding to teams that are already engaged in the study of a promising system alignment mechanism, with the objective of learning how this mechanism performs in addressing health and social needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eligible teams must have an active or recently completed research study (within 12 months of application submission) that can be extended through the use of supplemental research funding. This CFP is appropriate for studying an existing system alignment mechanism implemented prior to the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, and about which some pre-COVID evidence has already been created by the applicant. Studies funded through the S4A program must test a specific system alignment mechanism that engages all three of the sectors referenced in this call—medical care, public health, and social services.

Our work to improve diagnostic performance will focus on three clinical categories – acute vascular events, infections and cancers. As we embark on this work, our primary strategy is to strengthen accountability for diagnostic excellence by helping to develop and validate new measures for diagnostic performance. In addition, we will look at opportunities to support growth and capacity of the field – preparing leaders dedicated to working on the issue of diagnostic excellence. And, we will assess the potential for new technologies to improve diagnostic performance, working to both minimize barriers for innovation and advocate for the safe and responsible deployment of these technologies.
