The University of Arizona is pleased to partner with the Society of Research Administrators (SRA) International in offering the LevelUP program to Research Administrators and associated roles throughout the university.
LevelUP consists of online courses through Modules and mGuides covering topics most relevant to the modern research administration professional, including pre-award administration, post-award finance, and regulatory and financial compliance. The courses can be completed any time, from any location, and you are awarded micro-credentials for successful completion.
The LevelUP curriculum can be used to onboard and orient new employees, provide existing employees with a better foundation in research administration, or help fulfill requirements to maintain professional certification.
The University of Arizona is an Unlimited Institutional Partner, which means there is no cost associated with your participation as a University of Arizona employee. You may take as many of the available modules as you wish, at no cost to you or your department.
The UArizona LevelUP User Guide contains detailed instructions for creating your SRA International Account, resetting and changing your password, updating your email preferences, accessing the SRA LevelUP program, enrolling in and launching courses, and viewing completed courses.
If you wish to participate, you will first need an SRA International account.
- If you have never had an SRA International account before, you will need to create a new visitor registration at https://www.srainternational.org/home using your @arizona.edu email address. Once you have created your guest account, please email shana@arizona.edu with the email address your guest account is associated with and you will be issued the program invitation link. - If you are an SRA International member or have been one in the past, please do not create a new guest account. Please email shana@arizona.edu with the email address your account is associated with, and you will be issued the program invitation link.
LevelUP Courses consist of Modules and mGuides
Modules
Modules are 3 to 5 hours in duration and require passing a randomized, comprehensive 50 question exam that challenges you to demonstrate aptitude while reinforcing the lessons and insights contained in the course.
mGuides
mGuides can be completed in an hour or less and include knowledge checks as you go along. Designed as a series of online tools to teach current with step-by-step guidance on specific responsibilities within research administration.

The Research Management Specialist (RMS) Certificate demonstrates an individual’s journey to mastering the fundamentals of research administration and management. Through SRAI’s LevelUP online modules and mGuides, research administrators gain the essential knowledge and critical thinking skills needed in pre-award administration, post-award finance, and regulatory and financial compliance.
Earning the RMS Certificate serves as a testament to understanding and applying the art and science of research administration, while acknowledging your commitment to professional development and excellence. We look forward to making this Certificate the next step in your research administration journey!
This Certificate, exclusive to SRAI members, requires you to:
- Achieve a total of 39 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through the completion of carefully curated courses.
- Develop a compelling case study, demonstrating practical application of your knowledge.
- Fulfill the requirements in three years.
This program is tailored for individuals who aspire to establish a career in research administration and are dedicated to embarking on a comprehensive journey to enhance their professional knowledge and skills.
Upon completion, you will be sent a Certificate and Digital Badge to showcase your hard work! The Digital Badge can be showcased on various social media platforms and in your email signature for everyone to recognize your accomplishment.
