COVID-19 has had medical, financial, and social impacts on our Arizona communities. These impacts have been uneven at best. For some community members, the consequences of isolation has been devastating. Recovery may be even more uneven and, in some ways, more complicated. To support researchers at UArizona to respond to questions related to the consequences and responses related to COVID-19 in our communities, the Drachman Institute will fund up to $10,000 in seed grants for 1 to 3 projects meeting the following criteria:

Our work to improve diagnostic performance will focus on three clinical categories – acute vascular events, infections and cancers. As we embark on this work, our primary strategy is to strengthen accountability for diagnostic excellence by helping to develop and validate new measures for diagnostic performance. In addition, we will look at opportunities to support growth and capacity of the field – preparing leaders dedicated to working on the issue of diagnostic excellence.

This program area priority addresses the need to develop and deploy rapid, reliable, and readily adoptable strategies across the food and agriculture enterprise in response to COVID-19. These strategies should mitigate urgent threats from the COVID-19 virus and ensure the availability of an accessible, safe, nutritious, and abundant food supply. Proposals may be local, regional, or national in scope and should employ interdisciplinary teams with the capacity to address the range of problems faced by the entire food and agriculture enterprise, from production to consumption.

NIGMS will accept applications for Competitive Revisions to active U24 awards for eligible organizations to rapidly provide pilot or supplementary funds to researchers studying the development of predictive models for the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and outcomes of possible COVID-19 public health intervention measures in order to accelerate such research.

Eligible organizations are those with an active NIGMS U24 award responsible for storing, managing, and promoting the shared efforts of a network of researchers studying the modeling of infectious diseases.

The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) is issuing this Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) to highlight the urgent need for research on the impact of the novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic causing COVID-19 disease outbreaks and the resulting disruptions on individual and social wellbeing, health services use, and health outcomes for NIH-designated health disparity populations.

NIMH is issuing this Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) to highlight interest in research to strengthen the mental health response to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and to future public health emergencies, including pandemics.

The purpose of this supplement is to provide support for the conduct of worker-based training to prevent and reduce exposure of hospital employees, emergency first responders, and other workers who are at risk of exposure to Coronavirus through their work duties.
