PAR-21-074: 2022 Mentored Research Experiences for Genetic Counselors (R25)

UArizona may submit one application

The program needs to provide research experiences with the intention to extend the skills, experiences, and knowledge of genetic counselors. The program should provide experiences that allow the genetic counselors to enhance skills necessary to formulate and conduct genomic research independently and that is not available through other formal NIH training mechanisms. Research experiences should be in one or more of the areas relevant to NHGRI's research programs - genome sciencesgenomic medicine, and ethical, legal, and social implicaions  in genomics research.

PAR-21-075: 2022 Research Experience in Genomic Research for Data Scientists (R25)

B. LaFleur

UArizona may submit one application.

For this FOA, “genomics research” is defined as biological investigation at the scale of the complete genome without having a focus on a single gene, a group of genes, a particular genomic locus, or a specific disease or organ system. “Genomics programs” are defined as research or educational programs that have a complete or substantial focus on genomics research, including both experimental and computational approaches towards genomics. Programs that focus on biological research or education with genetics topics included without a specific focus on genome-scale topics will ordinarily be considered outside the scope of “genomics programs”.
