Amendments
Radioactive Material Approval
Any changes to approved protocols, or any additions of radionuclides to an approved application requires that the Approval Holder submit the Application for an Amendment to Radioactive Material Approval to Research Laboratory & Safety Services for review the Radiation Safety Committee. Approval must be obtained prior to beginning the planned projects.
Sealed Source Approval
To amend approved protocols, including adding radionuclides, increasing activity limits, changing or adding storage locations, or modifying device in which the source is contained, an Approval Holder is required to submit an Application for an Application to Amend Sealed Sources Approval for review and approval by the appropriate Radiation Safety Committee.
Radiation Generating Machine Approval
Research Laboratory & Safety Services (RLSS) must be notified before a change in a machine’s location, transfer of ownership, or disposal. RLSS will report these changes to the Bureau of Radiation Control (BRC).
Moisture Gauge Approval
To change approved protocols, add radionuclides, raise activity limits, modify routine transport plans, change or add storage locations, an Approval Holder must submit an Application to Amend Sealed Sources Approval for review and approval by the appropriate Radiation Safety Committee.
Retirement
The Radiation Safety Committees established a rule effective January 2010 that approvals that have not used or possessed radioactive material for twelve (12) months will be retired.
