What is Pivot?

ProQuest Pivot is a searchable database of external funding opportunities that comprise approximately $50 billion of available funding from federal, non-federal, and international sponsors in all disciplines. Creating a user profile allows you to save custom searches and receive email alerts about new opportunities that match your profile and your search criteria.

Helpful Tips

  • Register an account to gain access to all of Pivot’s functionality. Use your UA NetID email and ensure you select “University of Arizona” as the affiliated member institution.
  • Claim or create your profile to gain access to Pivot Advisor, which automatically recommends funding opportunities based on your profile. These recommendations are stored on your Pivot homepage under the “Advisor” tab.
  • Customize your profile to be visible to potential collaborators and improve Pivot Advisor recommendations.
  • Conduct a basic search by text to easily search across all fields and sponsors. Use Boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT, quotation marks around exact phrases, and asterisks as wildcards to narrow down your results.
  • Conduct a basic search by sponsor to search the entire list of sponsors. Find sponsors by keyword search or via the alphabetical list. If browsing alphabetically, some sponsors may be nested under their larger controlling entity, e.g., the NIH is listed as a department under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Save searches to be able to revisit them quickly and easily. Saved searches are stored on your Pivot homepage under “Saved Searches”.
  • Receive weekly digests of saved search results. You only receive one email for all of your saved search results.
  • Track opportunities to stay apprised of opportunity-specific information, such as proposal deadline date. Tracked opportunities are added to your “Tracked” searches tab on your Pivot homepage.
  • Take an RDS workshop to receive hands-on-training covering logging in, claiming/creating a profile, introduction, and overview of search capabilities, and saving and tracking funding opportunities. Visit the Seminars and Workshops section for more information and to register, or contact us directly.
