Project Summary, Description, or Purpose

In the absence of a cure and vaccine to date for COVID-19, besides establishing scientific guidelines, reopening campus safely requires employees and students to comply with new rules and gradually adapt to a “new normal” in daily life.

To help facilitate the University reopen efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic with empirical evidence and to contribute both theoretically and empirically to the existing body of literature, we designed this four-phase research project among UA undergraduate students, using social norm interventions targeting four behaviors: wearing masks, handwashing, disinfecting and social distancing.

Dear Students,

You are invited to participate in a voluntary and anonymous short online survey regarding the reintegration of students back onto campus during the Fall 2020 semester. You will read some short messages, and be asked questions regarding your attitudes and perceptions about COVID-19 and the suggested safety guidelines on campus. There are no right or wrong answers. This survey is part of a research project led by the UA faculty from multiple colleges across the campus.

In order to participate, you must be an undergraduate student at the University of Arizona, and at least 18 years of age. Your participation in filling out the questionnaire is extremely important to the success of this research study. The questionnaire should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Participation in this survey is voluntary and responses are anonymous. You may discontinue participation at any time or skip any question that makes you feel uncomfortable. Refusal to participate will not involve penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled.

In exchange for your participation, you will have the chance to be entered into a drawing to win a new iPad tablet (5 winners).

Thank you for filling out this survey. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Rain Liu at rainliu@arizona.edu.
