About This Episode

WHAT: A monthly fireside chat
WHEN: Thursday, April 22, 3:00 p.m.
TOPIC: Futurecasting Your Research

Register now for this afternoon's 3:00 p.m. Zoom fireside chat with Elizabeth "Betsy" Cantwell, senior vice president for research and innovation. The discussion will focus on sentient tools that can leverage artificial intelligence, robotics, intelligent mobility, Internet of Things, Smart Cities, and cloud intelligence. This interactive discussion will help you turn a futurecasting lens on your own thinking, potentially driving the kinds of impacts your research can have.

Cyndi Coon, founder and CEO of Laboratory5 Inc., will lead the discussion and provide a demonstration of threatcasting, a conceptual methodology that enables multidisciplinary groups to envision and plan systematically against threats ten years in the future and uses inputs from social science, technical research, cultural history, economics, trends, expert interviews, and even a little science fiction to explore how to transform the future they desire into reality while avoiding an undesired future. A human-centric process, it allows decision-makers and practitioners to imagine what needs to be done today, as well as four and eight years into the future, to empower or disrupt targeted future scenarios.

Additionally, SVP Cantwell will be joined by RII Chief of Staff John O'Neil; Vice President of Operations Sangita Pawar; and Assistant Vice President of Research Intelligence Lori Schultz.
