This postdoctoral fellowship provides an opportunity for a recent Ph.D. recipient to pursue an ambitious program of research in any area of theoretical, experimental, or observational astronomy or astrophysics.

The Peter A. Strittmatter Post-Doctoral Fellowship for Advanced Study in Astronomy & Astrophysics is a new prize fellowship created in honor of Peter A. Strittmatter, who directed Steward Observatory for 37 years, starting in 1975. Under his tenure, the observatory grew dramatically in faculty and facilities, including completion of the Multiple Mirror Telescope, the Submillimeter Telescope, the Large Binocular Telescope, and membership in the Magellan Telescopes, among others.
