The 2nd Annual Introduction to CUREs Workshop: Why Teach a Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE)

The Societal Impact Office under Research, Innovation, and Impacts (RII) and Student Engagement and Career Development (SECD) are partnering to (1) host the second annual introductory workshop on course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) as an approach to broadening access to undergraduate research (UR) for all fields, and (2) offer a paid opportunity for instructors to attend the 2021 CURE Training Institute and develop a CURE course. This effort is funded by a Provost Investment Fund.

Facilitator: Dr. Sara Brownell from ASU, a leading researcher on undergraduate research experiences and co-PI of CUREnet2

**Instructors from all fields and all levels from the University of Arizona and Pima Community College are invited to attend. This event is NOT limited to STEM fields.

The University of Arizona 2021 CURE Training Institute

Applications open: March 1, 2021

Application deadline: Monday, March 22, 2021

During the Institute, participants will learn about and use evidence-based instructional strategies to develop plans,

instructional materials, and assessment tools for integrating a research project into a first- or second-year course.

Eight teams will be selected for the 2021 CURE Cohort.

Each team will be awarded $7,000, funds for an undergraduate assistant, and four consultation hours with the Institute instructor.

Selection will be prioritized for CURE courses offered to first- and second-year students.

*Signature is required from the head of the department that will house the CURE course.

This opportunity is NOT limited to STEM fields.
