Dr. Heather Walsh is the Occupational Health Medical Director. She is responsible for the medical operations of the Occupational Health Clinic which includes working with staff to define and manage medical surveillance programs in conformance with regulatory standards, in addition to clinically evaluating university employees for medical clearance and providing education regarding occupational health risks and prevention methods. Walsh started working as a physician at Campus Health Services in 2004, joined the CHS Occupational Health team in 2011 and recently transitioned to her current position with the new UA Occupational Health department in January 2019. She earned her CAOHC Professional Supervisor of the Audiometric Testing Program (CPS/A) certification last spring and is currently working towards an American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) OEM Essentials certification.
Walsh received her BA degree from the University of Notre Dame and her MD degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Walsh graduated from the UA Family Practice Residency in 2004 during which she served as Chief Resident and completed a Faculty Development Fellowship. She was one of the first UA Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship graduates in 2005. Prior to shifting her focus to Occupational Medicine, she worked as a family and sports medicine physician which included the memorable opportunity of caring for UArizona student-athletes.
