SICRAT 2021

Seminario Internacional de Conservación y Restauración de Arquitectura de Tierra International Seminar on the Conservation and Restoration of Earthen Architecture

The NPS Vanishing Treasures Program, in partnership with University of Arizona, University of New Mexico and Cornerstones Community Partnerships, is pleased to announce SICRAT 2021, a series of virtual seminars on critical topics in the conservation of earthen architecture.

Many of you are familiar with the TICRAT model of on-site workshops (or taller, the “T” in TICRAT).  The SICRAT is also a long-standing cross-border program of seminars (seminario) that convene experts to share current best practices, case studies and engage in dialogue with participants to extend knowledge and techniques to communities, institutions and professionals charged with conserving our shared earthen architectural heritage. This SICRAT will also be a predecessor to the upcoming in-person TICRAT workshops planned in conjunction with the TERRA 2022: 13th World Congress on Earthen Architectural Heritage taking place in Santa Fe NM, June 7-10, 2022.

Due to COVID restrictions, SICRAT 2021 will be conducted virtually as a series of five 2-hour sessions.  Each session will be divided into two parts:

  1. Brief presentations by a group of expert panelists on a specific topic (general principles, challenges, best practices, case studies); and
  2. Moderated Q&A focused on that topic for registered participants to engage with the expert panelists.  Questions can be submitted prior to the session as part of the registration process and interactively during the Zoom session.

There is no charge to participate in the SICRAT 2021 sessions but you must register for each session in order to be invited to the Zoom-based event. All sessions will be recorded and will be made available after.
